Marangoni Retreading Systems strengthens its presence in South Africa
Thursday, June 10, 2010
Marangoni Retreading Systems is adventuring into new commercial ground, establishing a cooperation agreement with Marathon, part of the Leader Rubber group, thus opening the door to the South African market, which with two million units between retreads and new tyres appears very attractive.

The agreement involves Marathon providing the distribution platform and sales support to partners who consider the Ringtread system as a strategic point of differentiation. Moreover, a strategic point of differentiation that can both reduce overheads for transport fleets, and, thanks to the quality and reliability guaranteed by ring retreads, respond to the price-based market, made up of tyres from east Asia.

South African hauliers can currently relay on four high capacity RINGTREAD retread production sites: two in Johannesburg, one in Pretoria and one in Pietermaritzburg, near Durban.

Roberto Santorum, Marangoni Retreading Systems Regional Sales Executive Manager, stated: “RINGTREAD’s presence on the South African market will be guaranteed by supplying right products and equipment.” “Intense training programs for the sales force at each individual organisation have been planned for 2010”, echoed Danilo Pasotti, Marangoni Retreading Systems Business Development Executive Manager.

The first Dealer Conference, held in March, was an opportunity to promote the concept of Total Tyre Life Cycle Management, explain the sales support programs, and, once again, stress the benefits of using rings and ring technology.

The success of the conference was above all due to the desire of Ringtread retreaders to adopt a more organised approach to the market, so as to better exploit all the opportunities that such an exclusive product as the RINGTREAD offers: hauliers are currently looking for high quality products that can replace new tyres.

South African customers who have tried the rings have been very impressed by the higher performance, in certain applications, of RINGTREADS compared to new tyres. Indeed, tests carried out with customers’ contribution have shown how importantly the rings improve the mileage of leading brands and considerably go beyond the kilometres travelled by Asian tyres.

Marangoni Retreading Systems and Marathon expect to complete South African market penetration by the end of 2011.
The lead-up period will not only see the introduction of high quality products and services, but also the development of support programs for transport fleets.
